On-board Realtek ALC650 AC97 sound <SOLVED>

#1 Post by pupshock »

i've got an on-board Realtek ALC650 AC97 sound chip.
I could get sound with Puppy 2.14 and 2.15.
No sound with Puppy 2.16, alsaconf cannot find any PnP or PCI.

I've look at the .ko files in /lib/modules/2.618.1/kernel/sound,
chose a likely contender, and tried
modprobe snd_hda_intel
didnt work.
Which other .ko can i modprobe?
How to find out which was used in Puppy 2.15?

I've also downloaded the drivers,
http://www.levi.cz/pub/support/driver/s ... ux_v23.zip
but the readme.txt said to compile them, and my eyes glazed over.

Hello, I have the same issue.

My Toshiba Satellite M30X-128 has an internal AC97 soundcard. The problem is that I need to use nopcmcia or otherwise, Puppy gets stuck at "Loading kernel modules".

Is there any way to get ALSA working with the AC97 while using the nopcmcia boot parameter on Puppy 2.16-1?
