USB boots older Puppy OK, can't boot 1.0.4
rggg.. (insert multiple curse words)
i've done this before on a previous flash stick (different brand) and it worked beautifully. (and then i lost it - the drive)
here's what i have -
- the latest ISO burned on a cd (and it boots great - right to puppy)
- a brand new PQI Intelligent-stick 1gig flash drive (it also is found by XP)
- Win XP
1. I start Windows normally - plug in my flash stick - it finds it - i use the HP USB disk storage format tool to format the flash drive.
2. I reboot the system this time with the puppy cd in - puppy starts - i plug in the flash drive and go thru the process of installing puppy on the flash drive sda1
3. I reboot system this time with the cd removed and the flash drive inserted - i get the damned (sigh) 'please remove non system disk' - so the sys can't boot from the drive - something is wrong.
on the flash drive when i check out what's on there i see :
image.gz
syslinux.cfg
usr_cram.fs
vmlinuz
(no pup 100)
i also used the encryption bit.
anyone help me out here??? i'm about to break my laptop like a waffle.

Use Mtools in File Mangers
Mtools in file managers is the tool for transferring those files over to Puppy.
And dont miss this one about your probelm (right here in this section). _________________ Puppy user since Oct 2004. Want FreeOffice? Get the sfs (English only).
