webcam not detected

#1 Post by BevS97 »

I am trying to install my webcam, it's a PCline PCL-100K and plugs into a USB port.

I've ran the webcam wizard but it says it's not plugged in. I've had it running on this pc in windows, so it does work but is not being detected.

i did a USB Viewer and it is showing (it's the only USB thing plugged in), but it shows as

CIF Single Chip
Manufacturer Pixart Imaging
Vendor id 093a
Product ID 2468

Any idea how I can get it to detect it?

Is it possible to cut and paste from the terminal?

It says

Linux Video Capture interface v2:00
atkbd.c Keyboard on isa0060/serio0 reports too many keys pressed

Yes. You can highlight the text in the xterm window with the mouse and hit ctr+c. Then goto the browser text box and hit ctr+v.

I think it's also possible to also just highlight the xterm and then hit ctr+v in the text box. I thought that worked once for me, but wasn't sure if I bumped copy somehow.

Any idea how big that is compiled?

That's some list of supported USB cams:

I say that would be a GREAT addition to puppy.

Which version of Puppy are you using?
For 212 or later try
MUs Muppywebcam dotpup
New Download-location is:
http://puppyfiles.org/dotpupsde/dotpups ... 6.18.1.pup

It includes the Kernelmodules (should work in Puppy 2.12 to 2.15CE), and xawtv.
On installation, it will delete the old gspca and videodev module installed by the wizard from NickBiker , as those work only in older versions of Puppy, but "confuse" newer versions.

From
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=11587

Worked for me.

Some time ago i got a webcam with the same chip to work on pup 1.0x using the tips from Nickbiker's webpage. I had to do it manually and he updated the wizard after.
Unfortunately he hasn't recompiled the stuff for the latest puppy.

I found the gspca driver played the game for this camera.

Now with 2.16.1 and muppy webcam wizard i can't get further.

I'm interested in anyone who has sucess with the newer puppy and webcams with the CIF single chip Pixart. Pup 2.1.6.1 is the only one that's got me on the net with wireless successfully.

I had success with Mark's drivers and puppy 2.16 using a "Creative Labs, Inc. Model No. PD1170"

Finally got it to work.
Followed Mark's instructions on another post:
delete old gspca.ko, delete videodev.ko
DO NOT RUN the WIZARD

Downloaded and /installed
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Libraries/Gsp ... 6.18.1.pup
http://www.moyo.me.uk/pupplinux/files/p ... v-3.95.pup

In a console:.........
depmod
modprobe videodev
modprobe gspca

Ran xawtv

Worked!
Finally got back to where I was on an older puppy with my "ekes" camera I got dirt cheap in the philippines with the CIF chip in it.
