Puppy voice mail? |
|
Using the Start /Mulitmedia / XS Sound Editor
Rather than save in wav, I halved the file size by using the following settings
audio /audio settings
8000 sample rate
encoding Mulaw
and saved in .au
use TkZip to make a zip file ... click File, New Archive
or you could type zip -9 my-zip-file.zip my-sound-file.au which will zip a file called my-sound-file.au and put it in a file called my-zip-file.zip
Hope that is working (thanks to GuestToo aka G2 for file compression advisement)
Anyone up for writing a "Voicemail" script that automates this?

Pawed Casting |
|
I have sent a slightly longer file using
Start / Multimedia / Snack XS Sound editor
to record the file
Double clicking on the file should open it as a .wav file
You can also open it using Start / File managers / MtoolsFM
(I used this to zip the file before sending it)
Using the XS Sound editor I was able to make a few notes, talk quite carefully
and then just highlight the pauses (click and drag) and delete them
The Enclosed file is my first PAWED CAST about the Puppy Foundation weekend

That's great, Lobster, but why did you put it in the "How-To" section?

Basically because I've got fish for brains . . .
Where should it have gone?

I'm not sure. Cutting Edge, Users or Suggestions are all good candidates.

Or in a topic called "Foundation Weekend", under "Puppy Power". In anticipation of the event, here, too, is a brief recording

Good to put a voice to Raffy
Flash if you have the power please move it as Raffy suggests.
Raffy as you say in your voicemail we can move John further up on the list of founders - certainly.
I tried to use the qnext program (which has many modes of comminication) but as before was unable to even sort out IRC - will keep trying . . .
Thanks for sending a voice message

By all means please do. Which reminds me, there are many John's here, like John Murga Maybe they are just waiting for your PM - you have their names in your sticky post anyway.
And a sideline comment: Asians have many rituals that sometimes baffle other cultures. One of these is what the Chinese would call the "me-no-good" ritual. You'll get used to these things

. . . well this thread has developed into pawedcasting . . .
You can record on the web and have it hosted and then provided as voicemail
Click on or visit the link below to listen to my message:
http://enus.springdoo.com/public/play/?id=FF8AE91DFD3857AA
If you have a mic you can record
http://www.springdoo.com/
You will also find something similar at podomatic.com (note the spelling which I hope is right) - not as I say in the message
It should work in any flash enabled (the default in Puppy) browser
