printer list?

#1 Post by shr1k »

Can some one make a list of printers that work with the printer wizard with no problems. I cant seem to print a thing I have a an hp and a 2 lexmarks I wont bore you with the details. I have tried to make them work. I would like to go out and buy a printer that I can plug in run a wizard and start to print.
Use this thread to start the list if you want. I am looking for a cheap new and available printer in the US(Maine).
Thanks

I see that you have already posted the details of one printer that you can't get to work. Why not post all the makes and models before you assume they are all paperweights.

Thanks for the link to that list.
I know the printers I have are not paperweights they all work fine with XP. For me the only bad part of using Puppy is I cant print with the printers I have, something I do allot of. When I first started using Puppy a few months back I was very impressed with how easy it was to get up and working doing the things I use my computer for.
I am going to buy a new printer soon and I want to buy one that works right out of the box with Puppy. I would like to find one that also has a scanner.
Their are two things that can solve problems time and money I have spent some time on my printers I am buying a new one anyway so I wanted to get one that I can use easily with Puppy.
Edit --after looking at that list I see the hp 1410 thats very similar to mine I will spend some more time trying to set this up. My question still is what is an easy to set up printer for puppy.

No guarantees you can get all of these working in puppy also some printers with closed source linux drivers aren't listed I think.

We now have an unofficial copy of HPLIP compiled by lluamco that works with CUPS in versions of Puppy from 2.10-Pro to 2.17. This will run most HP all-in-one printer/scanners.
This thread contains all the information you should need including download links.

Linux = Learning through doing  :? :D
The learning curve may be steep but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
You just have to pass the occasional oncoming train to get there.

Hardware List

#7 Post by ecomoney »

Having a Hardware list of printers, scanners and wireless as a sticky would be a great idea. It would also help ethical companies who provide Linux drivers.
