On a serious note, puppylinuxw, 2.14 to 2.16 all have their own particular bugs, but also have some very worthy improvements over time. The latest 2.16.1 seems solid enough - you could always wait awhile and get 2.17.

I would estimate 2.17 "Dancer" is 3 weeks away (aprox)

Developers tend to be most keen on improving the latest release.

To answer your original question, I would suggest 2.16.1 (as the core) is the most stable and then adding these

This was the approach I used with the prepared and added sfs in the massive 333 MB Linux Tmxxine (which is a 100% Puppy compatible puplet)
