Data recovery on Bad drive

#1 Post by ndujoe1 »

Are there any Puppy Linux friendly softwware tools for extracting data from a bad drive? The files are not located in my .sfs file, but on a fat 32 partition.

Thought I backed up everything, but discovered that I did not.

i have a Fatback package and a Foremost package on my dotpups page:

but i did not find either one to be very useful

pcinspector (a Windows program) seemed to be as useful as any program i tried:

Depends on what is wrong with the drive.

Does it spin up ok?

Does it have bad sectors?

Does it have corrupt files?

Is the controller card ok?

There are a lot of little tricks for recovering data from bad drives.

Give us an idea, and i'll see what direction to go.

I hope this helps.
If at first you don't succeed try try again!
