Need libXxf86vm.so for LinuxDoom Dotpup

#1 Post by flamesage »

libXxf86vm.so.
Used to run LinuxDoom.

One of the great games that im going to make into a .pup if I can get it working.

Were do you guys find the .so files? All I can find are RPMs.
Include the file as an attachment if you can.

If I can't find it on a debain mirror,I find them like this:

http://www.google.com/search?as_q=libXxf86vm&num=100

The reason for debian, is I find most of their stuff compatible and using similiar directory structure as Puppy.

G2 made and posted a doptup for undeb and unrpm

Also Aienx's Midnight Commander Plus dotpup handles these formats

or run knoppix from CD and save the files you need to harddisk.

You will have to right-click the Icon of the partition to save to first, and set it to "writable" in the "actions".
Also, you must become root:
su konqueror
will launch the filemanager as root.

Are you trying to compile LinuxDoom?
I have placed libXxf86vm.a into usr_devx.sfs, you will find it in /usr/X11R6/lib but renamed to HIDElibXxf86vm.aHIDE.
...reason is, don't want apps to use it as the Xvesa Kdrive X server doesn't use that library.
Anyway, just unhide it and compile.

It actually came out of Mandrake 9.2, and Puppy's Xvesa is compiled in Xfree 4.3.0 which is what Mandrake 9.2 uses. You will find livXxf86vm.so in Mandrake.
