Why not zip-tie a USB pen drive inside the case?

#1 Post by acklan »

I was want to know if I could take the second USB pin header inside my computer and permanently connect a USB pen drive to it? Put a USB header zip tied inside the case with a USB drive attack. Will the heat effect it? Is there times when I will have to remove the pen drive? Any drawbacks?
I thought this would be a good way to boot this computer all the time.

I just did this same thing, but instead I used the spare PCI USB slots which motherboards include (so the motherboard USB headers can be added in the PCI not the front).

I got this piece and plugged it into the motherboard header and then plugged my usb key (which is use permanently in my system) and hid it all inside the case. This is a good deal easier that any other method...

experimenting with hardware and Puppy

8) I think what you have done here has potential.
It is one of the ways we might provide puppy on a PCI / USB / memory stick combo.

Which is the first thing that boots - the graphics card. At the moment graphics cards built into motherboards often share system ram. Could it be done the other way around - a graphics card with Puppy / memory and the above combo?

Can you provide a digital pic of what you have done for the news page?

Who else is experimenting with hardware and Puppy?

Every time I open my case, its an experiment...

I just haven't had a need to modify anything for Puppy. I hope to have some extra hardware to play with soon.
