nm 256 on Omnibook 4150 working in puppy linux 2.16

#1 Post by eladbern »

I did get sound working in the omnibook 4150 I found 3 drivers that will work to varying degrees the CS4232(one I chose) the cs4231 work relativly well, sound is softer than in Windows and you get cheated out of a master volume bar. I also got it to configure with a SB 8 analog driver but the output volume was terribly soft. For all these i ran the alsa config Utility built into puppy 2.16 seamonkey. Sometimes you do have to run the wizard a couple of times before it sees the card.
I then pasted these lines at the end of modules.conf
alias snd-card-0 snd-cs4232
alias sound-slot-0 snd-cs4232
options snd-cs4232 port=0x534 cport=0x538 mpu_port=-1 fm_port=0x388 irq=5 dma1=1 dma2=0 isapnp=0

and also replaced the alsa output in modprobe.conf with the same lines as it did not see the MPU port or FM port setting when it configured it.

Hope this helps some one

Dale
