Puppy 1.0.5alpha2 ist JUST GREAT!!

#1 Post by PeterSieg »

Hi everybody.

Just downloaded 1.0.5a2 + usr_devx.sfs.., made an iso with both, booted, made hdd available
for pup002 and copied usr_devx.sfs to it (/mnt/home).

The new look is just great!! I love it! I am writing this with my new Puppy and listening
to internet radio with gxine at the same time :)

Great Job - Barry (and all the other constributors!!).
The trash icon is also great! gcc works out of the box (not really tested yet).
And also my german keyboard works now somewhat better (still not right - no umlauts..)...

What can I else say.. Now I think Puppy goes for first place on the small distro class!

PS
Have fun :)

Yeah, but we shouldn't be recommending 1.0.5alpha2 for anyone to download, as there is a lot wrong with it, or not yet done.

I'm working furiously on it of course...

GTK compiling works!!

#4 Post by PeterSieg »

Hi. Now I had some time to test compiling environment 'usr_devx.sfs' :)
First I downloaded and tried a gtk type hello word. works.
Then I started my own small new gtk app. A palm doc reader:

Just great!
If one interested, my efforts so far are in the included tar.gz file, together
with a palm doc file 'US Army Survival Guide'. Just untar, cd into 'gtk' and copy txt2pdb to '/usr/bin' (into PATH). Then start it with ./pdbreader

PS
Have fun :)

Is there anyway to increase the text or bolden the letters???
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

Hi, sure there is/should.. look into the source, where a font is loaded and
change the font, to somethings alse... You can recompile it inside gtk folder
with ./makeit pdbreader

If one loads 1.05a on a pc with 1.04 does it update (unless told otherwise) or does it install alongside?

No, as 1.0.5alpha2 is for experimenting, it creates pup002, so does not affect 1.0.4 which uses pup001.
