PDF created with scribus uploaded to website incorrectly

#1 Post by Fiberflinger »

I built a few pdf's in scribus and posted them on my website. Two of them were fairly small and had no problem, but the third one does not upload and if it does I cannot open it. I get an error message stating the thing is larger than 256 (mg?). Having more than one page seems to choke the thing. I know pdf can be more than one page. OK can I zip it some way in scribus? Am I doing something wrong in scribus. They have pictures but I made sure they were as small as I could imagine them.

i don't know what the link is pointing to, but it does not seem to be a pdf file ... at least, the file name does not have a .pdf extension

i think you should check the name of the file that you uploaded, and make sure it is the correct pdf file and that it has a correct name with a .pdf extension ... the file seems to be named "2Harness%20Loom%20New" with no pdf extension

it should not be necessary, but you could replace the spaces in the file names with for example, underscore characters ... like this: Simple_loom.pdf ... it's just a personal choice, sometimes spaces in file names can cause problems under certain circumstances

I'm missing something here. The link on my website for the simple loom opens in ghostview. the third one says file exceeds 256 KB. If that is what you are looking at. It was a pdf that was uploaded, and make just as the other two were made. Same ole, same ole. If its the server, its the server, if it isn't , , its me. I did all three the same way. the 3rd one was several pages.

if you uploaded a pdf file, it is not one now

on the page: http://fiberfling.netfirms.com/Freebees.html

there are 3 links:

http://fiberfling.netfirms.com/TriLoom.pdf
http://fiberfling.netfirms.com/Simple%20loom.pdf
http://fiberfling.netfirms.com/2Harness%20Loom%20New

whatever the 3rd link is pointing to, it is not a pdf file ... if it was, the link would end with .pdf

it may be a pdf file that is not named properly ... you should check the file on your hard drive to be sure it is named properly ... if it is, if the file ends with .pdf, then it did not upload properly

Well i think I figured this one out. Don't do it in Scribus!

Remade everything in OpenOffice and saved it as a pdf there. It came out so small an ant could download it.
