Can I use kernel 2.4.x from Puppy version 1.0.1 with Puppy version 1.0.2 ??

No you can not - sorry.
The decision to move to the 2.6 kernel (an increase from 1 meg to 1.4 meg size) means MANY more Pups will be able to use Puppy.
It is a fearless and brave decision that a lot of the more cautious olde dogees were not too keen on. Puppy is like that - frisky and fresh.
1.0.2 therefore has a lot of work under the hood. It works, the issues of the transfer are being addressed.
How soon? Well the release cycle for Puppy is set at aprox 4-6 weeks. Often it is quicker than that.
