More TOP forum Topics? Easier to find specific informations |
|
Hi everybody.
How about some specialized top topics:
a. Audio-playback, -recording, -editing, -streaming, internet radio, cd-player
b. Still imaging, Paint apps, Digital camera, scanner, graphics apps
c. Video-playback, -recording, -editing, -streaming, DVD, VCD, mpg
d. Wireless lan, setup, hardware, howtos
e. office, abiword, gnumeric, open office, pdf creation+view
f. printing, cups
g. ...
I find it somewhat difficulty to locate information in the forum.. If it is there, it is probably in cutting edge, users, beginners ...
Wouln't it be easier, to have some specialized topics for that..?
The goal for each such top topics, would be to create a howto, that
explains what has to be done to have this and that working and how to
use it (it could then go also to the wiki..).
This howtos und any solved topics should be visible first (sticky)..

Peter, would you say the topics you name could be divided into two broad groups, 'Hardware' and 'Applications', which could be added to the already-existing 'House Training', 'Advanced Topics' and 'Taking The Puppy Out For A Walk'?

Don't devide between HW+apps... |
|
Hi flash.
For some things, proper hardware is needed.. in addition to the applications..
Any to solve some problems, ons better knows, what pieces have to work
together to archive what you want.. but anyway..
The way I see it, is a user (grammy) view. Meaning for example:
- oh, I heard that there is also radio in the internet..?
- ok. How about listen to internet radio. What do I have to do?
- so. I can use gxine - great..
- oh, there is also streamtuner.. hey a dotpup .. yuppy. works!
... (some days follow)
- ok, so now what about getting the internet radio songs on my 26Gig MP3
Player...
... (continue as you wish )
Grammy (Joe average), probably also could read about audio editing... cd burning...
convert their audio casettes to mp3...
That way, I believe that such Top topics would act as a condenser/collector for such informations in a more centric manner.
