Trivial Mozilla bug(?) [Not a bug - Ignore]

#1 Post by PaulR »

I noticed that the status bar doesn't display when a window is maximised under FVWM (at least not on my computer) although it works fine under IceWM.

I have the impression that it is not a Mozilla bug, but the window manager behaviour where apps maximize to the full screen regardless of the task bar.

Isn't the status bar behind the WM task bar?

rarsa: You could be right - I seem to recall now that the partly hidden window effect was one reason I stopped using FVWM!

Edit: Just checked - you're right!

Solution: Auto-hide the taskbar!

Here is what I do to handle the situation:

Uncomment the following line in ~/.fvwm95rc:
*FvwmTaskBarAutoHide

This enables the taskbar to autohide, just like in Windows. I find this feature to be essential since Puppy limits my video options to 800*600*16bit color. With this, maximized apps are no longer an issue, and fvwm95 becomes far more useful.
