Hello all the Puppy's !!!
A vendor offers me, this two models of modem+router+wifi for adsl.
1- netgear 834g
2- Zyxel 650hw
I think that the two models are true harware and will work well with Puppy (I'm working with Puppy 2.14 desktop and 2.16.1 laptop).
Someone has tested this models ? If so, wat has the best hardware and independience of the OS ? Thanks to all.
About : netgear 834g and Zyxel 650hw

I have installed 3 of the above.
I myself have the DG834............no wireless.
These Netgear modems work a treat with Puppy.

them and you will not have the problems.
Best ISP support including all your system settings. Easy peasy.
Best email filtering...no extra charge.
No I don't work for them...but I have had diaup, 256, 512, 1500
and now ADSL2 and I'm happy.

Then we are blessed with Telstra the main carrier....
old Telecom monopoly,
Netgear DG834G could not connect.
You would have more luck booking a cruise on the Titanic.
The less said the better about Telstra....so many words,
so many lawyers...so much chance to be sued.
So really it depends on your ISP.
And what country you reside in.
Ask around ...we have Whirlpool forums in Australia.
As you are probably overseas.......register and login as a user and ask
if there is a similar forum in your country.
I am sure that they will help you.

Thanks you for the details, cthisbear. Are ussefull.
You see:
Here in Argentina (Buenos Aires) don´t exists TPG (or I didn´t found it). Here, the telephone (line) service is a monopolic world with two providers:
"Telefonica of Argentina", and "Telecom"
They use cheap diabolics usb modems for adsl (perhaps some ethernet), but the vendors, usually callcenters (a really telephone-spam), don´t know nothing about Linux. They know one or two things about Wind#s, and the very basic of Mac. That's the same with the tecnical suport (terrible).
Are providers of cablemodem to, with identical usb modems ("Multicanal" and "Cablevision").
Also is a provider of a big Lan, it´t name is IPLAN that brings hi speed conection by a LAN with optical fiber and ethernet (arj45) conection in the client side and also telephone service by lan conection. (I'am asking them for this service and prices now) (perhaps, perhaps, perhaps . . . . . the cruise on the Titanic will be posible with them ?
Thansk you very much cthisbear.

Apparently WG111v2 went through several different sub-releases, with different chipsets.
Early versions had the PrismGT chipset. There is a beta driver "prism54-islsm-k2.6.18.1.pet" for this chipset here
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Wifi/drivers- ... 2-to-2.14/
Despite the name of the directory, this module is compatible with Puppy 2.12-2.16.
But more recent WG111v2's probably have the Realtek RTL8187 chipset.
If this is you, there is now a RTL8187 driver for Puppy 2.17 here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 192#139192
To accurately determine what your device is, you need the lsusb utility, which just happens to be part of the revised Network Wizard package here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=21177
Install this package, then run "lsusb" and look for "Device" and "ID".
