The ATI fglrx proprietary driver will not work:
I have also tried the solution at
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=37837170&t=20463
X server actually starts but freezes the whole machine with black screen. Keyboard or mouse does not react the only solution is to power off.
The driver worked on this machine with 2.16.

The build it ETH network uses sky2 driver, it even obtains address from DHCP
but i cannot open a single page, wget does not download, ftp does not work --- very strange. It worked on 2.16 and the device works from Mac OSX correctly.

(There is no driver for Apple Airport WiFi, but that is not new).

Have anybody dealt with these issues?

In recent x86 Macbooks the wifi adaptors are Atheros chipset-based.
Apparently these will work with the most recent versions of the MADWiFi Linux driver.
