Multiple user pupxxx files - very simple with GRUB

#1 Post by Bruce B »

  • I saw a post where someone was asking how to make a multi-user Puppy. Now I can't find the post.

There is a simple way for users to use Puppy with different pup files. It wouldn't be multi-user in the sense that two people can use it at the same time. It would however allow two or more users to have their own configuration and not affect the other user's configurations.

What you want is an Option 1 install and Grub

Basically what you do is make a second Grub menu item like the first, only change the titles and the name of the pup file.

The titles could read like this:
    • John's Puppy
      Jane's Puppy
    The pup files could be
    • pupjohn
      pupjane

perhaps me, or at least me too.

This is perhaps a work around. What I do 'normally' , is to have aserver, which holds the home-direktories, makes the internet connection, doing backups..

Every maschin in the network hav the 'same' /etc/passwd which mounts the home via NFS, so everybody can log in at any maschine (ok this is less important.
but running puppy the manner you suggest makes me haveing several different home-dirs with the same (root!) permission.
This makes everyone in the family haveing root access....
