How do I get rid of the timebomb icon

#1 Post by mr_shafer »

How do you eliminate that timebomb icon from the desktop ?

(all my software is perfectly flawless and the icon is not needed)
=======================================================

Where is the documentation for the desktop configurations ?
I wanna modify the GUI menus & the START button menus.

You're running Fvwm95 window manager I presume.
You have to edit the file /root/.fvwm95rc
...which can be formidable.

Um, Barry is hardly a spammer. He's the guy who's responsible for Puppy Linux, and therefore this forum. You've been a member of this forum long enough you ought to know that.

I'm using 1.0.5 and I notice that the bomb is gone. I suggest that you download 1.0.5 and use it.

I will treat you with respect and understanding. But don't worry, you will get used to it.
I rather suspect that you missed the mark on that one. Two threads and you managed to insult the one person who is the most expert Puppy there is.

He was right you know. You are using Puppy but the windows manager, your copy of Puppy is using, is most likely FVWM95. Which is the only WM that has that timebomb up in the corner, at least I've never seen it in JWM or ICEWM. So to remove it you would have to edit the /root/fvwm95rc file.

I just looked at mine and BarryK is right. It is a formidable task.

My best solution would be to suggest that you use another Windows Manager. Such as JWM or ICWM. Puppy 105 uses JWM and so far I haven't seen the timebomb thing in it.

However if you do insist on running FVWM95, the to remove the TIMEBOMB icon, you will have to edit the /root/.fvwm95rc file.

Search for the following line

*MiniButtons - mini-bomb Destroy

Edit it to read

#*MiniButtons - mini-bomb Destroy.

This will remove the TIMEBOMB from the window. Since I'm not the expert BarryK is, I can't say that anything else will not be effected. SO USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Best advice, upgrade to Puppy 105.[/b]
