This is an external HARDWARE modem, capable of connecting both through serial cable and through usb cable.
I am using Puppy 2.14 at the moment. No problem using serial cable, just like any other external serial modem and using /dev/ttyS0. I am using it that way at the moment.
For life of me, cant get it to work via usb, even manually setting it use /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 as the port. USBview shows it as unknown device 2303. I have no other usb devices connected.
Now I did boot PClinuxOS2007 live cd and it recognized it and I was able to get online with it via USB.
Suggestions?

Anyway after a modprobe pl2303 and setting port to /dev/usb/ttyUSB0, then I can connect. Thanks to poster in above thread. Otherwise I believe my question would have been lost and forgotten after moderator moved it here.

There have been posts to this forum about USB analog modems, used successfully with Puppy. There was one that is actually a software modem -- and I recall that it is one that you can purchase new.
However, the search feature on this forum doesn't search very far back -- I don't know how far, but I don't think it searches more than a year old. Use google though, to search the Puppy forum is the way to!

Mouldy,
The long link you've posted doesn't work for me...I get a 404 error. So for posterity's sake, I think this is the link:
