goosee DNS problem |
|
right now - Monday, October 3, 2005 at 22:11:50 UTC - dns servers are redirecting goosee.com to goosee2.com ... there is no such url
it is not just my isp's dns server ... i have tried alternate dns servers and i also tried getting the webpages using Tor proxies, and they are all redirecting goosee.com to goosee2.com
it is possible that this is some sort of malicious attack using the BIND dns exploit
or it may be something normal, like some sort of reconfiguration of the Puppy website
the Puppy website still works if you use the ip numbers instead of using dns
http://66.179.215.22/puppy/
anyway, i'm not sure what it is, but something seems to be happening

Hey, we have been attacked!
or so it would seem.
I have contacted my host about it.
I also let distrowatch.com know about it, and gave them the ip address.

fortunately nothing serious.
The wxBasic-board got cracked some days ago, and all messages from september are lost
There seem to be many attacks currently, so please think of backing up the board.

goosee.com is working again.
Okay, I have just looked up how to archive a mysql database to a single file,
will do it right now.
...in fact, I had better announce not to edit the wiki right now, until further
notice.

Barry,
The site is down again.
Can you change the link in the www.goosee.com page to use the IP address instead of the DNS address?
The low volume of posts tells me that most people is experiencing problems accessing that page.
Or maybe point to the wikki news for now.

As indicated by Patk in another thread, the link in goosee goes to index.shtml and prompts for a certificate. I thought that the certificate was way to do some spoofing.
I'm still sure that people going to www.puppylinux.org will receive that message and may be deterred from accepting the cetificate.

now I get a file not found (index.shtml), if I try your link and click on Puppylinux.
Seems someone is looking for it.
Don't people have to do more productive and enjoy things instad of disturbing and destroying other people work?
Just because they are not able to create own things? What a poor character must be this, a real lamer .

Ah, when I was investigating the redirection problem, I changed
puppy/index.shtml to puppy/index.html, to simplify serving the page.
But then the link from www.goosee.com/index.html was wrong --
have fixed it now.
