I read the release notes but found no reference to the removal of Dougals remaster utility.

Barry described in his blog that he is adding the ISO creation to his script and dropping Dougal's script. See

I added a few things to my script, but if there's still something that was in Dougal's script and not in the latest, let me know -- some feature that you need that is.

Barry

Thanks for the reply. I was active in the following thread regarding the speedup of the boot process when booting from a remastered CD/DVD. I was in hopes someone had the time to implement my suggestions. Please see my posts in the thread particularly my last post where I took a stab at implementing the suggested change.

Thanks for all the hard work! I am overdue to shoot you a small token of my appreciation.

Good Day, Regards
Ron

BarryK

I have tried to use your remaster tool to set desktop background picture and virtual desktop numbers as well as scripts on the desktop linked to files saved in root and none of these work whereas they all work using Dougals remaster.

Is this going to turn out to be my fault? Please don't take this as a moan because I think Puppy is fantastic and you have done an incredible job to develop such a fantastic distro

Barry

I tried to remaster a custom Puppy 3.01 final CD for my mother and the remaster script did not capture most of my customizations. Appeared to only get the keyboard/mouse settings. It did not get my CUPS setup, browser/email setups or the changes I made in /etc/rc.d/rc.local. I used Dougals remaster script from Puppy 3.00 final and it worked great. I have always had great luck with Dougals script. I tried your script twice but it is possible I did something wrong. Has anyone else had any luck with Barry's remaster in 3.01 final?

Regards
Ron

I have kept trying the remaster option in 3.01 but it just doesn't seem to work. After I use it I still have to input my keyboard and screen settings on boot up!!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE can we have Dougals enhanced remaster back because that works perfectly for me.

Is it available on a Pet package?

Thanks

Dougals,
Please come to the rescue and create a Pet of your wonderful remaster for Puppy 3 series
Hello Barry K the difference between your remaster and dougals is what is kept in with Dougals and what is sadly left out of yours after a remaster.
Lastly I'd have to say that if you are trying to save space by only having 1 remaster app in Puppy, drop yours and make Dougals the default in Puppy. Sorry Barry K!
