HELP HELP "how to boot 2.14 without monitor?" |
|
I am about to lose my mind for 2 weeks, two problems:
1) AFAK W83627 doesnt let puppy to boot except 2.17.1 version, it freezes in uncompression process of initrd.gz.
***after a while u say "2.17 is fine too", a second problem occurs
as raffy told here
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1256865101&t=24293
One difficult hardware I encountered uses an I/O chip "Winbond W83627HF" for which 3.01 had some difficulty. 2.17 easily handled it.
2) AMD lx xorg driver, I have tried every single way to compile or steal from another distro(ubuntu and debian has it). this is the first time "others have, puppy doesnt" situation for me. it doesnt work. I use vesa in xorg too slow, no DPMS, no DDC. PLEASE CHECK MY SECOND POST BELOW
any advices, any individual solutions are appreciated.
thanks
here is the link of my motherboard

Try this |
|
Try this, an experimental version of minipup, with newer Xorg drivers:
http://bexa.org/pup/iPup/ipup-202-v1.00alpha.iso
http://bexa.org/pup/iPup/ipup-202-v1.00alpha.md5.txt
Thanks to pakt and dougal for supporting these updates for minipup.
If that does not work, you can try 2.14R version 1.01, discussion here:

OMG I have just noticed that my monitor doesnt have DDC Sub_title: all versions work with this MB, 2.14 fails when I use noddc monitor |
|
all versions work with this MB, 2.14 fails when I use noddc monitor, it worked perfect with my other monitor ddc capable. 2,17 and 3,01 says out of range when ctrl+alt+backspace.
So the issue is "how to run 2.14 without monitor?" because I dont have a chance to use another monitor, we have 100 of these
"how to boot 2.14 without monitor?"
"how to boot 2.14 without monitor?"
"how to boot 2.14 without monitor?"

try "other" in Xorg |
|
Hope this is possible: Using the "try other" at the bottom of the list in xorgwizard, go on to explore the possible monitor settings (in the next dialog).
Or look in /usr/sbin - there could be older xorgwizard or xvesawizard there and use it (in console) to choose Xvesa.
