Wet Floor Wallpaper for Puppy

#1 Post by doggtoon »

Here's a site where you can create your own wet wallpaper for your Puppy. Using Highslide's JS gallery viewer, you can "drag n' drop" numbers and icons on to a work area and use your screen capture utility to make your own personal puppy wallpaper. No shortage of numbers or icons (including most puplets). Just click, drag and shoot. (sorry, only available in basic black)

01/01 Update: the individual alphabet has been added.
Letters and reflections are separate for more possibilities of layout location.

Below is an example of something that can be made:

Code: Select all

trapster:
I'll be squeezing in an alphabet later this week, since it was requested. Just have to do some redesigning so you don't have to drag across 2 pages.

Code: Select all

Lobster:
I grabbed the 2 graphics, and will be adding icons for those this week, too.
I also need an idea of what to use for "Rudy" (already tried a screenshot from the movie, but it just plain sucked) and "Teen"....and any other icons for Puppy OS's that I missed, chime in, and I'll get around to them.

This is what I use for Teen now:

For creating this, you get my official Seal of Coolness
Image
http://www.says-it.com/seal/

EDIT: Now I think about it, you could actually use that site to create graphics for this. ...cool.

After assembling your picture, take a "snapshot" of your screen with mtPaint screen capture
( on 2.01, it's on the main menu bar under "Graphic Processing").

If you list which version of Puppy you're using,
I'm sure someone that's familiar with that model will be able to help you out.

Que?
put a highlight image around the bit you want and press delete (mtpaint)
the image should go in puppyreference/backgrounds
Use the stretch option in the desktop changer

Thanks for all the complements, everyone.
Now for the other logo additions (I'll be working on):
NOP, GRAF, LITE, MINI, SIMPLE, TMXXINE, RUS and an alphabet.

12-31 Update: Added: NOP, GRAF, LITE, SIMPLE, MINI, TMX, RUS,
DINGO, SAFE, BETA, PUPPYX, RUDY, X, slash, dash.
Lobster: any chance you can do something like this for Puppy, Dogtoon?
Did you mean the white background?
Nope. That's why I went with 'black'. Hides a lot of defects. Plus it's so slimming, lol.
A real BIG X?
Yep. I'll throw that in with the alphabet.
A program like that?
No way. I barely know my way around javascript, never mind compiling.
Pizzasgood: Now I think about it, you could actually use that site to create graphics for this.
Thanks. I'd forgotten about that site. May incorporate some logos from that site later.

A few 'real' Web2.0 wet icon sites are on the web, if you don't want to wait
for something to get created (or if you want a white background):

Wet Floor

I added some text to the desktop ("Connie's Puppy"), but it came out blurry, no matter what size or type font I used. Is that a general experience, and is there a solution?

I assume you're stretching the pic with the 'desktop image manager'.
 Another way to set the background is first use:
Desktop Solid Color Manager
for black, slide 'value' all the way to the left, select OK.
Now use the Desktop Image Manager, and select your pic, this time
choose 'center'.

The image will be smaller, but won't distort.
Image
(black background w/ centered pic)

 If you're looking to 'blow the pic up',
use mtPaint,
select 'image' on the toolbar,
then 'scale canvas'.
Input one dimension (it will figure out the other)
Click OK.
Now add your text, and it won't blur out on you.

Or, you might just want to wait till the alphabet is finished (be a while).
Hope this helps you out. :D

Text on Wallpaper

#16 Post by davec51 »

Thanks, Dog. The text is blurred, not really distorted. I know that a centered image will be clearer. Anyway, I'm a poet, not a designer, and I'm better of in my own precinct.

Firstly; I love this application and the results.

The screenshot shows what it looks like now; what I would like is solid black.

Sorry to be dim, but what do you mean by the 'Desktop Solid Color Manager'? And what slider? And so on. I cannot find an application to do this.

In other word I just don't understand what to do to get a solid black around the "wet" image.

If it can be added, great! If you'd rather wait for final, that's OK too.

Many thanks; that worked fine in my main Puppy 3 setup. :)

I was trying it out in Dingo (Alpha 3) where those menu options aren't all there as yet (see screenshot) - hence the confusion/ignorance.
