How to add Firefox features to Seamonkey
I like Seamonkey 1.0* but some features that Firefox has were missing until I found these sites:
http://www.ironspider.ca/browsers/extmozilla.htm
"Here you can use this extension to add a Home button to the Seamonkey Navigation toolbar and hide your personal toolbar for more screen area."
"Preferential will allow you to run around backstage and make all kinds of advanced configurations to Seamonkey that are otherwise either not available or buried deep in the Seamonkey menu system."
"Web Developer Toolbar is a web developer's dream and if you want to see Seamonkey beat the pants off of that other big monopoly browser..."
Also this site has a fine extension just for Seamonkey that adds many features called MonkeyMenu:
Note:MonkeyMenu Is Not Compatable With Extensions Like Stumbleupon That Add A Toolbar. It Will Over-Write The Toolbar By Installing The New GUI.
http://markbokil.org/index.php?section= ... eymenu.php
"...add about 28 buttons to the Seamonkey user interface, collapse any toolbar, add/remove search engines, have your font zoom size reloaded, and use the new Search box feature. Basically the extension revamps the browser UI making it easier and faster to use."
I'm running them now in Puppy 2.13 and they work perfectly.
There is also a link to an experimental extension installer/uninstaller.
Be carefull using this as it may mess up Seamonkey.

HI EdfromHouston,
Thank you very much! THe "Home button" in your first link is a very worthwile addition! I can finally uncheck the space-wasting Personal Toolbar.
I also installed the "Seafox" theme from the second link and it now looks like I'm running Firefox. Very nice!
Don't ask me how, but using your links I ended up in the Cooliris site, a Firefox add-on that also works in Seamonkey. I installed it and, from first impressions, it looks like the best browsing tool I ever installed!
best regards,
Bert

SeaMonkey 1.1
Have added your info here (editing needed)
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/SeaMonkey
I have been using SeaMonkey 1.1 in Puppy 2.14Alpha and it has a tab preview option and dictionary by default. It is based on Firefox 2.00 code but seems more stable than the (increasingly) flaky Firefox (from my experience) However for 2.14Beta Barry will be returning to the even more stable 1.06/1.07 of Seamonkey
Stability is something I value above speed and looks. Any more tips for Seamonkey please add to the wiki link above

I noticed that MonkeyMenu is not compatable with extensions like StumbleUpon that add toolbars. When MonkeyMenu over-writes the Seamonkey GUI it improves it a lot by adding many features but at this time it can't see other toolbar type extensions so if you use Stumbleupon or other add-ons that add toolbars you should test how you like it with a live cd.
I installed StumbleUpon after installing the MonkeyMenu and the SU toolbar wasn't available. I reinstalled Seamonkey by over-writing a new save file with the old save file by renaming the old file to match the new one. I didn't know how to uninstall MenuMonkey. This got rid of all the extensions and plugins so I had to reinstall the ones I wanted but it worked fine and didn't bother Puppy outside of Seamonkey. All my other program settings were left intact.

The single most important reason I continue to prefer Firefox is its built-in extensions manager, which allows me to use Tabs Open Relative (http://jomel.me.uk/software/firefox/tabsopenrelative/). This opens each new tab immediately to the right of the current tab, not all the way to the far right end of the row. Does anyone know how to make Seamonkey either use Tabs Open Relative or else in some other fashion open new tabs to the immediate right?

I tried to get Tabs Open Relative to work but it wouldn't install into Chrome. I don't know why.
On the bright side SessionSaver works at least so far. I just installed it and it's doing what it's supposed to do.
I wish I knew how to fix Tabs Open Relative because that seems really handy. I see why you like it so much.

Among many other things the Multizilla extension allows you to define where new tabs open. It is a very old and yet still powerful extension which allows the adjustment tons of preferences (not just tab related). It comes with a slick sidebar RSS feed reader.

Hi,
I am the developer of MonkeyMenu, SeaFox and SeaGnome. I saw on this wiki page: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/SeaMonkey that it says that Monkeymenu does not work with Stumbleupon and other toolbar extensions. This was fixed in the last version of MonkeyMenu and all toolbars work as expected.
Update is available from here.

Delicious
This was a helpful post. Unfortunately, I am somewhat addicted to installing different versions of Puppy and different versions of Linux, so I would really like to have Delicious or Foxmarks working here, since It would allow me to import all my bookmarks easily, but they don't seem to be among the ones that work in Seamonkey...
Re: Delicious
Have you checked the Seamonkey Community Repository for a suitable extension? I don't know that you'll find what you are seeking, but if you don't it probably doesn't exist or isn't from a trustworthy source.geneven wrote:This was a helpful post. While you're at it, check out the Seafox theme that helps Seamonkey mimic Firefox.
Hope that helps.

xsidebar and firefly
I think firefly would be great addon for seamonkey and puppy
it requires the xsidebar addon to work
if it's a penny for your thoughts but you always put
in your 2 cents worth whats the extra penny for?

The version of Seamonkey shipped with 3.01 was 1.12 and is known to be faulty - the problem you mention being one of many. Go to the Seamonkey site and download the latest version 1.17 (Full Installer for Linux) and all will be well again.magerlab wrote:i can not install any theme and extension for seamonkey in puppy 3.01
why is it happen so?
i have unexpested error 201 after downloading a theme
Hope that helps.

New Seamonkey
I installed the new Seamonkey 1.1.7 and it is better. The problem is the Pet Package Manager doesn't uninstall the old version. (1.1.2) I am new to Puppy so I need some advice.
Thanks, metal1

To uninstall packages that came with puppy you can use pet-be-gone. You can download it and the required 0pkgs_db-3.01.pet to remove programs. I must warn you (experience) that you will eventually ruin your system. If you find you removed too much just don't save.
I found that seamonkey is one of those programs that I found ruined my system when removed. I wonder if you have installed another version what will happen. Have fun.
