Web implementation

#2 Post by raffy »

A really quick response to people's request there, Mark :)

Does it work just like DidiWiki (in Puppy)? Or can it be installed in Apache servers?

(It's Sunday, so asking before reading or testing may be excused :) )

Now Working - eh how does it work?

Do not use this program unless you are prepared to lose data (it is an experimental dotpup - and we will get it working)

OK Mark this is what happened

1. Installed OK - did not run (think it tried to access the website)
2. refreshed Jwm - nada - nothing - zilch
3. rebooted Puppy - Puppy died (x marked the spot) the menu system dissapeared and I had just a mouse and small box bottom right . . .

Please do not give up Mark - I am just gonna set up my Puppy again (just booting from CD with a menu 3 boot up to get this message out)

We need Gobby 8)

H Mark,

I am using a heavily configured Chubby 1.0.5

Let us know how you get on - any other brave souls out there for testing?

This is perfect example of Puppy being up and running in no time when running from CD - all I need to do is rename or delete my pup001

and start again - New Puppy!

No Problem 8) - when you are as keen as me to try new programs sooner or later you gonna be roasted.

Gives me a chance to start again with a lean and keen new Puppy . . .

Simply start it.

Create Session.
Select Name Lobster, and a colour.

Create a document "test".

Now start the program again, join session, Name "Lobster2", another color. Click on the "subscribe-button" to connect to Lobster.

Now you can see changes that Lobster makes in Window1 simultaneously in Window2.

If you want to work on a document with Mark, you must know his IP-adress.
So Mark types:
ifconfig
in rxvt.
He sees:
ppp1 Link encap:Point-Point Protocol
inet addr:80.171.151.39

So when you join session again, type "80.171.151.39" in the "Host"-field.

Now you should be connected with me :)

Raffy, it is simply a texteditor, where more than one people can type in, by connecting their computers over a free port with the integrated server.

Are you behind a router from the 'other' computer you want to share the document with?

If so, you need to open and forward the port on the router . (If you tell me the model of your router I can point you to step by step instructions for doing this)

no, I'm connected to the web via an ADSL-Modem.

But maybe Lobsters Firewall closed all ports?

Could be, we have a router / ADSL modem / Firewall combo with two Windows computers and me on Puppy. Gonna see if anyone else can get this going for now . . . will also think about another solution - this ability to work on a doc in real time needs to be easier and there may be an online solution . . .

I am coming across a load of alpha ajax collaboration programs (on line javascript updated programs) that may be suitable and am going through them . . .

Here for example is a pre ajax system I have used in the past

Password is puppy

not quite what I am after but may be useful . . .
