Boardcom BCM4401-B0 Ethernet adapter doesn't work

#1 Post by theblaahead »

I'm a total beginner with puppy and linux so please bear with me.

Im having a problem when i try to connect to my LAN woth puppy, I run the ethernet and network wizard. It recognises that i have an ethernet port and loads a driver for it. I have a Boardcom BCM4401-B0 card. In hardware probe it says it is running. However there are no flashing lights when cable is plugged in. Testing the eth0 connection it says the Ethernet Cable not plugged in.
When i try to execute a ping it seems to run it on the loopback and not on the eth0 connection itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you checked the network card and cable, how does your lan connect, DHCP or static addressing.
How did you run ping.

Try typing ifconfig in a terminal to see if your connection is listed, it should show up as eth0.
