There are so many hidden gems in Puppy, that I am not sure if I am overlooking... Has anyone noticed if there is an app in there that can do a screen-blank or screen-saver that is password-protected? Or a pupget/dotpup that has that capability? I understand Puppy is yet a little weak on managing authentication (or maybe just not part of the Puppy philosophy which is okay), but if I use "passwd" to give root a password, I should be able to run a screen lock program, right? Thanks!

No.
You could try to download xscreensaver...xxx...rpm somewhere, and make a dotpup using Dotpup-Wizard 06: http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=2138

But you will need several libraries like libpam.

You can search for files here: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages
Dotpup-Wizard does not support Debian.deb yet, but you can use "undeb" to extract from the commandline. Or google for the libs.

I might try to create a simple password-protection in the next days, but it will be not as secure as xscreenserver.

More intended to avoid your Windows-using collegues in the bureau from accessing your Puppy.
