The original-Xserver for Puppy (Kdrive) can use pseudo-transparency, if you use aterm instead of rxvt (install with Dotpup-Downloader, Category: System Utilities)

You need the xorg-xserver for "real" transparency ("transluscency"):

Look for "transset" there.

I use mrxvt. The pupget is compiled to allow transparency.
