1.0.5 HD install can't detect ethernet connection; CD can

I've installed 1.0.5 on a seperate partition. All seems to be working except it cannot detect an ethernet connection - if I run it from live CD it does!

Any Ideas

I am having the same problem and is driving me nuts. Is there a solution to this ? Much help is needed.... I really like this distro and would like to install in my laptop without the cd.. Thanks.

what do you get if you type
ifconfig
route
and
dhcpcd
in a console (rxvt) window?
