The gui timezone panel seems to missing a GMT -7 setting. Puppy 1.0.5

Hmm, I must have thought there was no country on that timezone.

You can do it manually, then reboot:

# ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/GMT+8 localtime
# echo "PUP8" > /etc/TZ

...yes, for GMT-8 the link has to be to GMT+8!
