Virtual PC and ethernet connections on 1.0.2

#1 Post by dvw86 »

For those (few) of you who are using Virtual PC to run Puppy. Puppy 1.0.2 will not recognize your emulated ethernet connection unless you are using an excising pup file from version 1.0.1 or earlier. This applies to VPC 6 and may applies to other versions of VPC as well.

Yes we did. I should amend it to say that if you are using an existing pup file that the device should be recognized.

Hey

This doesn't seem to affect Virtual PC 5.3 on the PC.

I did a lot of my testing on this and networking worked fine on a completely fresh disk... Unless it is my ISO that doesn't exibit the problem.

I'll double check later

Cheers

1.0.5-Mozilla and Chubby - No network on MS Virtual Machine

#5 Post by NeilJustNeil »

Hey John,

This exact problem seems to be an issue for me too. I am able to load Puppy on my MS Virtual PC 2004 (Build 5.3.582.27) but when Puppy boots I cannot get 'net to work in any configuration (Works with Windows 98/NT in VM though).

Hoping Puppy will help me to get into the linux world, but w/out 'net i'm sorta stalled.

Thanks

Neil./
