Subject description: Now has Mini-Icewin as default windows manager

Puppy Chihuahua Alpha 4 now available. 97MB
Get it here:

http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/tronkel/puppy-3.02Alpha4_Chihuahua-firefox.iso
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/tronkel/puppy-3.02Alpha4_Chihuahua-firefox.iso.md5.txt

ttuuxxx's mini-icewm is now the default window manager - comes with 3 themes, ruby-lite being the default. Also included is ttuuxxx's Gslapt package manager for Slackware software packages. Only the faster repos are enabled. If you need to use Gslapt to track packages already included in Puppy, run /xpinstall.sh before running Gslapt for the first time.

Other goodies:

Firefox has a second default theme included - Nautipolis by Alfred Kayser - small, and fast - a big improvement on the usual Firefox default.
I have also included the CoolIris extension, that allows click-free browsing. Simply hover the mouse over the little blue icon next to a link to see a preview of the page. Move the mouse away from the preview to dismiss the preview.

Hotpup is on by default.

For those who may need a spreadsheet, SoftMaker's Planmaker spreadsheet application is included.

Included is Google Desktop auto-installer. Install it from the script /usr/local/Googledesktop-installer. Download the deb package to '/' by following the on-screen instructions.

Conky is also in by default, displayed on a new wallpaper.

I'd like to solve the DVD player problem. I cannot get goggles, mplayer nor vlc to work with this kernel. Anyone got any ideas here?

Now we're cooking, Jack! Great job! If you include MU's quite small Cursor Selector application, you can also add the attached X11 mouse theme to the /root/.icons directory and select it as default. It will give the basic Puppy a much more professional look for very low overhead.

Again, well done!

xine-ui-0.99.5.pet works fine for DVD's with alpha3. It does report that xine-lib is a missing dependency during the install but it works anyway.
After a reboot!

I am right now working from the Alpha 4 of Chihuahua. Looks like you did not use the latest version of light icewm from Ttuuxxx. He has fixed the icons in the menus.

Hi guys, heres my latest icewm, all the icons work now and also I lightened the blue text colour .
I tried to move a file to my hard drive and received an error? never had that problem before.
So I can't save to my hard drive at all
all the hotpup icons are all on top of each other top right corner of the screen, Had to move them
missing taskbar icon for Firefox
Anyway we could could get the next version without conky?

I liked the default firefox theme:)

I also find it Dangerous to have a shutdown and reboot button on the taskbar
I've in the past clicked that and lost everything that I was working on, Because I never save to disk, only files to the hard drive.

if you want the orginal Smooth-Ruby you can get it here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=8536
thanks to WhoDo for uploading it Very Happy ! Smile and it comes with the a nice ruby background

I also got my hard drive working again by changing the permissions and refreshing, even though the permissions were all ticked to start with, this seemed to free it up so now I can save on it.

OK thanks Tux, that's a big improvement. I'll make PPdelite the default for the next release and leave the others there as well. Icons on root menu also seem OK now.

Tux, do you want to fix up a different wallpaper to fit in with the PPdelite theme? For example, you could include the same image as you used for the start menu button - plus a bluish raised decorative text font?

You can find some very nice wallpaper images at http://www.terradreams.de that could from the basis of this wallpaper

I've made wallpapers in the past and it shouldn't be hard at all to make a new one for this theme I'll start on it in a day or 2,
Just busy now trying to get mplayer working on your latest, I had it playing a dvd with errors, out of sync. and a error message that was flashing nuts, must of been with each video frame.
maybe someone would like to figure out the dvd error?
download mplayer from http://www.puppylinux.ca/bugs/mplayer-1.0rc2_xv.pet
then install my lib pet that i've attached to this, to get it running.
ttuuxxx
I'll try a different one for now Smile

Hi Guys

I made this shutdown application and icons, What I was thinking is that maybe if you wanted that red shutdown button on the taskbar I could make it launch this application. The total size of the application extracted is 84kb.
What I would like is to have a black background and white text. So I'm still developing it a bit. Here's a screen shot of how it looks so far. Just tell me what you think please.

Yes, I do like that ttuuxx. The colour goes well with the PPdelite theme. Go for it!

In his recent designs, Rastapax is already using two small dots as eyes of his icons. Maybe you can use the same?
