Samsung USB mp3 player/flash drive formatting problem
So I got a new samsung YP-U1 mp3/ogg memory stick.
1GB memory.
what I,ve done so far:
out of the box: ( shown to be a FAT32 file system, in explorer or via fdisk )
-works with M$
-mounts on my SuSE 9.2 desktop
-mounts on thinkpads (live puppy)
-mounts on SUN ULTRA SPARC ( solaris8)
the I thought it would be nice to have puppy on it althought.
-running live puppy
-fdisk shows me the drive as bootable FAT32
-going through the USB wizzard, with no problem
-didn't get it booting ( tryed: direct from bios, boot2pup floppy an wakeup floppy)
- second try all above with the empy pupxusb file added on the drive
don't get bothered by that too hard, BUT after that:
-M$ win shows the filesystem as RAW
-knoppix derivates(feather,DSL) give me a syserror message ( device doesn't accept new adress ...)
-sun doesn't recognize this as DOS filesystem anymore
so I used the internal format command on the drive:
-M$ win shows the filesystem as FAT32
-knoppix derivates give me a syserror message ( device doesn't accept new adress ...)
-sun doesn't recognize this as DOS filesystem anymore
I'm now thinking about to format the drive via fdisk completly, but I don't knowifi this will delete something nessessary. Because the manuel tell to format the drive only with the delivered softwar (M$).
Ideas? suggestions? (I'm working on the sun problem, theres perhabs something to to on the sun side)
