Well done. Long overdue.
Good choice of Puppys
Puppy 3.01 Standard Slack compatible - being developed further in a community Edition
Puppy Dingo 4 Final (2.6.21.7)
Latest and newest, much older software still needs compiling, setting
up for this new edition which only uses .pets at present
Puppy Fat Free 3.01
have not tried this - what is left out?
Puppy WNOP 0.2
Compiz Fuzion wobbly interface
- probably the Puppy with the most 'bling' interface
Puppy 2.15CE
Puppy gorgeousness
uses icewm, the 'Viz' community edition
is still popular with many users
Puppy 2.12 (with Zdrv)
Very stable 'modernised' reworking of the 2 series
Can you tell us something about how you achieved this?

Wolf Pup- I like this concept. I downloaded and burned the iso, but when I boot the disk, I get "grub>". What do I do to get the menu up and load some Puppys? By the way, I pressed TAB, got a list of commands to try and tried them all, to no avail. My computer boots up and goes straight from the system bios to the grub>.
It should not do that, boot into grub cli. The cd should boot into a menu like below:brymway wrote:Wolf Pup- I like this concept. Please verify the md5sum.

Well I tried but I guess I don't know how. Anyone care to link me to an idiots guide. Incidentally I first downloaded the iso on my mac, where I download and burn all my iso's and got the grub>. Then I downloaded it on my FatFreePuppy laptop and got the exact same results, then tried to copy it to a usb drive and put it on this Dingo laptop but got the same results after using "burniso2cd". Then tried to md5sum and realized that I didn't know how. So now I'm back on the forum asking and will download straight to this Dingo laptop and try a md5sum once it's done. *sigh* I must be a Puppy Junkie.....Please verify the md5sum.
Hey that sounds like a good name for a Puppy Derivative....
Open a console/terminal in the same directory as your iso and md5.txt files are located and type the following.
md5sum -c puppy_fancy-1.2.8.iso.md5.txt
or just type md5sum puppy_fancy-1.2.8.iso and physically check the numbers by eye by opening the md5.txt file in an editor(Leafpad)
Best,
Eric
md5sum -c puppy_fancy-1.2.8.iso.md5.txt
or just type md5sum puppy_fancy-1.2.8.iso and physically check the numbers by eye by opening the md5.txt file in an editor(Leafpad)
Best,
Eric

Downloading it to this computer would have taken around four weeks and I ran out of memory and space. So the memory thing is another thing I have to learn about. So I went over and downloaded it on our windows xp machine and burned the iso using the iso burner that I have used many times before successfully. I got the same thing. "grub>"
So I downloaded image to a mac, a puppy and an xp machine and got the same thing: three separate downloads, three separate cds, three identical grub>. Maybe cthisbear will have a definitive answer. Sorry I can't confirm anything about md5sum yet.
Thanks caneri for the tip.

File deleted untill a better connection to a wifi ap can be made to re-upload the file.

OK. But I'm wondering is there anything I can change here on the disk, maybe on the grub file and see if it loads up? It appears as though I have the opening picture here it's just not telling it to load up correctly.

Downloaded here, got the same checksum as Lobster. Burned the ISO to CD and verified burn against ISO. This boots to the splash screen, but has problems with every version tested. Sounds like a bad ISO image.
