Forum/package RSS Feeds Subject description: Sticky posts filtered out and links point to actual post rather than thread's beginning. |
|
Here are RSS Feeds for all the forums at murga-linux.com.
What on earth are RSS Feeds?
I have programmed these feeds myself, so I have been able to filter off all sticky posts at the top of feeds, so the top most item will always be the most recent. Also, each item's link points directly to the post itself rather than the beginning of the thread to which it belongs.
They are updated once an hour, every hour, by cron.

Okay, stickied and moved to Announcements, which seems more relevant than How-To.

suggestion: show actual post content |
|
thanks tombh
a suggestion: on google reader each news item content shows the initial subject of the thread and not the actual text of the post, so i have to click on the link and go to the forum web page. It would be great if the news item content shows directly the text of the user post
Greetings
Orlando

This will certainly be implemented soon, hairywill has already prototyped some code to do this. I'll let you know when it has been done.

Subject description: post bdies added to feed, wiki page needs more info |
|
I have included the post bodies for the "Latest Posts" feeds. Note this gets the latest post once an hour so you cannot use it to follow an entire thread if it receives more than once post an hour.
There are a load of feeds on the wiki page here:
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/how-tos/easy/rss-feeds
It needs more information about readers and which versions of puppy they work in so roll your sleeves up and dive in.
Has anyone compiled liferea for puppy 4.00?

this is wonderful - thanks Tom and Will.
Is "latest posts" providing the same sort of functionality as as "view posts since last visit" (which is how i track activity on tbe forum)?

Just a bump to say that there's an exciting new RSS feed for all the latest Puppy packages added to Caneri's server in Canada. This server seems to be the most active in terms of contributions so it seems apt to have an RSS feed for it. If you're not interested in RSS then you can get the ordinary version on the downloads page.

My Puppy forum feeds seem no longer to be updating in Google Reader.

it may just be a problem local to you darreljon, but on the other hand the forum is seems very sick at the moment so perhaps that has something to do with it

If you click on the feed links above, you should be able to see they have not been updated for a while. Can anyone build one with Feedity?

Hi darrelljon,
The puppylinux.ca server has moved a few times over the last months.
We are just now coming to our first 30 days of uptime on the new servers.
I would like to have the rss again but I no longer user Drupal so these tweaks are a bit harder to do.
I would like to fix petch and other things we offered but the project has to run longer on the new setup. The guys that setup the rss and petch are no longer with us or are very busy with their work and families...let's hope for some free time.
Eric

Hi Caneri, I don't subscribe to the package RSS feeds, I do subscribe to the forum RSS feeds and they're broken.
