I hate to admit it but this just stops me cold could someone make a dotpup for this file pretty please with sugar on top
ftp://vert.synchro.net/Synchronet/sbbs_src.tgz
Please, someone make a BBS dotpup
no
I don't exactly understand the program.
I did this:
all the steps in the readme.
So in the subfolders of /sbbs/src/sbbs3 you will find several executables.
Most of them areplaced in subfolders called /gcc.linux.exe.../
One is
/sbbs/src/sbbs3/install/gcc.linux.exe.debug/sbbsinst
So I think this should be run first (it gives you a GUI).
Download this file:
http://noforum.de/dotpups/sbbs.tgz
It is 33 MB.
Extract it somewhere, and examine the subfolders.
I will delete it tomorrow, as it too quite special and huge to be hosted for a longer period.

ok, fine it works
You could try to save some space.
http://noforum.de/dotpups/sbbs-bin.tgz (2.5 MB)
This includes just the binary-files I compiled.
All the rest you might not need.
You might have to copy the files in /lib to /usr/lib
I stripped the files (made them smaller in size), I hope they still work and did not get corrupted.
I never used bbs, just read some of the .nfo on CDs when I was active in the cracking-scene (offline because Internet was too expensive and loooong ago. Now I prefer free software ).

well I got it working..........
I think there's something broken in the org tar file I've tried following the http://www.synchro.net/docs/sbbsunix.txt
and recompiling fails (solution don't follow the shortcuts )
it compiled just fine then
(I had to install the windows version and then rob all the *.js and *.conf files then changed the line in the main.cnf file to read /usr/sbbs instead of c:\sbbs ect) found out all those files come from the cvs and they also make the dir tree as it goes
of course I have no Idea what I'm doing sorta learn as you go thing

Creating Dotpups, there are several ways:
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=3142
For the sbbs, this will help you most:
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic ... 3158#13158
important:
If there is a subfolder /....../FILESYSTEM/usr/share/pixmaps/ , delete it, as it makes Puppy unstable.

If you do make a dotpup, please write up a plain language description of what the program does, or is supposed to do, that people can read without having to download the dotpup. Otherwise your dotpup effort will be wasted because people who could have used the program won't know what it's for and won't try it. Thanks.
