Does SCIM work in Puppy? I need to be able to type in Hindi

#1 Post by Swarup »

I've been using Ubuntu for about a year, and am thinking of switching over to Puppy as a smaller, faster distro for my older laptop. But I need to be able to use SCIM for my Hindi typing, the main work I do. I have a particular keyboard layout/map which I use, which is set up in m17n. In Ubuntu SCIM was already installed, I just had to download m17n using Synaptic Package Manager, and then install my Hindi map in m17n. Will I be able to do this in Puppy? Or is there a similar, parallel sort of setup which will allow me to install my m17n keymap?

Thanks for the great link! I've just written a post over on that thread. Sounds like I should be able to get it working. Thanks again. :)
