Canon PowerShot A400 driver for Puppy

#1 Post by goncal »

Hello

I have been looking for a driver so that I can download files from my Canon PowerShot A400 camera (a simple but nice camera, 3MPx, nice because startup time is rather fast so can catch interesting things on picfile) for Puppy and as yet have been unable to find one.

I was recommended a set of drivers for digital cameras and that worked fine for my wife's camera, a Nytech 5040, now I can mount and unmount the SD card using Media Utility Tool.

Anyone knows of an A400 driver for Puppy?

Thanks very much - cheers

Gon

Are you sure you need a driver. I've got a Fuji and I can connect the camera to the usb and simply read/edit the photos by mounting the camera as a drive.

Hi Rich

That is exactly the problem - I plug it in and turn it on and there is nothing at all to be seen on Media Utility Tool. But it does work running Win XP (what a shame).

Driver for A400 needed

It seems that only some cameras are supported by the libraries installed with Puppy. My Canon iXus V shows up on USBVIEW but cannot be mounted.
There is a thread about gtkam here that might help:

Have not tried the iXus V yet, but as soon as I get around to it....

goncal-
The Canon Powershot A400 is on the list of supported cameras in gtkam. Try it and let me know if it works for you.

That was a really BIG photo. In all seriousness I'm glad it's working for you.
