Lucent DotPup at ibiblio, Modem Wiz info update

#1 Post by aahhaaa »

regarding the LUCENT modem packages at ibiblio, and the instructions in the 1.0.5 Modem Wizard:

'If you think you have a LUCENT Linmodem...

HOWEVER, first download the LUCENT modem package from the Pupget folder on ibiblio.org, run Pupget to install, then reboot Puppy.

I'm looking at: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... ackages-1/

I'm assuming one of these is the right Lucent package...
ltmodem-2.6.alk.7-k2.6.11.11.tar.gz 27-Sep-2005 09:16 209K
ltmodem-2.6.alk.7-k2.6.11.7.tar.gz 27-Sep-2005 09:16 209K
ltmodem-8.26a9-k2.4.29.tar.gz 27-Sep-2005 09:17 214K

assuming 2.4 kernel is the right one... or just try all three? :?

yes, the 2.4.29 kernel one is the right one:

belated thanks, Guest! :D

just FYI- I used the 2.4 version; initially the Modem Wizard found nothing on the ttyS0-4 buttons. After installing (had a little confusion there, as this was my 1st add-on, and I tried to get the file name to show up in the file window instead of just clicking on it-duh!) the modem didn't function from the new ttyLT button, but was found by the Wizard on one of the S buttons.

It works- I'll re-do the whole thing soon with 1.0.6 and see where I went wrong. Immediate prob is to get its 56K instead of 28.8 out of it; but hey - no more d/ling thru XP!

Perhaps I need to reword that information in the Modem Wizard
-- if you use the PupGet package manager to download and install the
package, it only lists the correct one, so you can't go wrong.

Hi Barry! :D

I didn't realize that Pupget would automatically find the right package; think for dialuppers its likely their first use of it would be the Modem Wizard. And... they would be porting it in on CD or diskette until connected.
