I use pidgin 2.2.1 which comes with the alpha 7.
Will the 2.4.0 overwrite the 2.2.1 so it migrates to 2.4.0 or will the 2.4.0 installed in another directory, resulting in having 2 pidgins on the PC?
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Yes, pidgin 2.4.0 will overwrite the old pidgin. Test the newer pidgin with alpha7 in RAM first, because pidgin 2.4.0 might require DBUS which alpha7 does not have.

I've got the same problems like Nevermore. I installed the pet package, now Pidgin won't even start. PETget tells me, that the installation was successfull, but that there are still dependencies missing.

I'm unable to make screenshots with Puppy, so I post it as text:
HOWEVER, these dependencies are missing:
File /usr/lib/libpurple.so.0.4.3 has these missing library files:
libdbus-glib-1.so.2 libdbus-1.so.3
File /usr/lib/libpurple-2/ssl-gnutls.so has these missing library files:
libgnutls.so13 libcrypt.so.11
File /usr/lib/libpurple-2/tcl.so has these missing library files:
libcl8.5.so libtk8.5.so
File /usr/bin/pidgin has these missing library files:
libxcb.so.0 libxcb.so.1 libdbus-glib-1.so.2 libdbus-1.so.3 libdbus-glib-1.so.2 libdbus-1.so.3

Just installed the 2.5.0
I can't connect to msn. SSL has to be used.
Why not included in Pidgin?
Where can it be found and make to work with Pidgin?

Have I been lucky then when installing the 2.5.0 in Dingo?
It did work.

2.5.1 has no locale files.
I added those from 2.4.3, what seems to work.
Now I have a german pidgin.

*edit*
Also the locale package from ttuuxx's pidgin 2.5.1 works:

Yes Beem Just that the one I made has more things in it, I compiled 2.5.1 on 4.0. This Pidgin is great if you want just pidgin with spell check, Which most puppy users want!!
But if you want SSL + Gstreamer for working Msn Messenger and other I.M applications then use my version.
I personally Just use this version because I only need Pidgin. But others like msn so they have an option now
ttuuxxx
ps Here's a link to my version.
