Puppy Color

#1 Post by puppian »

Suppose we're using CMSimple, which color do you like most?
This demo for our main site at puppylinux.org is using the blue one now:

[EDIT]I just changed it to a 'green portal' template :) Feel free to try others at the setting page.

Orange seems to be the most Puppy-like to me (when was the last time you saw a blue dog in real life?) There are black dogs, but orange looks more warm. Black is cold.

A theme choosing option for users would be nice. Then regulars could have other colors if they deviate from the majority.

Shades of orange

#3 Post by raffy »

Yes, shades of orange will be good without being too bright for the eyes.

Here is a link to color shades.

BTW, am now moving the docs folder to puppylinux.org.

If you want to check out the feel of member's webpages, it's here.

The orange certainly wakes you up and it is much micer than the light on dark pages some of the distros have. I have been surfing up live CD's today and gome of the pages are really hard to read. I would tend to fade them into a more of a pastel but that is just my opinion.

But watch out for orange and black togeather, because from what I hear they are hard to distinguish for some who are colorblind.

a tiny little semi-related bug to consider... I changed the WM default colors to soft grey, and now trying to highlite text here on the forum, the selection becomes invisible.

That's a good idea :D and can be done using this plugin of CMSimple:
http://www.cmsimple.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13000&
This is their DEMO

CMSimple has a LOT of templates to choose from, see
http://www.dotcomwebdesign.com/

For more:

http://www.cmsimple.dk/?References

And a template can be customized to our needs easily by just editing two files (htm and css).

PS. The templates of other CMS (iware and php-fusion) can be changed from the admin panel too! More templates can be found at their websites.

I like that CMSimple.
I used to think that the "Change background color" script was cool.

I would like to see some green around here too but it is not much but brown and white at the moment.

That script hasn't been installed yet. The 'template pages' you see there now only change template for a certain page only. On the other hand, the script mentioned previously will change template for the whole site.[/quote]

Will add more templates for you guys to choose from soon ;)
