oh my god 119 MB... nearly a complete Linux-system.
When do we get a "Suse" installer?
"This Dotpup will download and install 5 Gigabyte Suse-Linux-Base-Libraries on your Puppy" Laughing

Thanks G2, it is great to have a current MySQL beside the new sqlite-Dotpup.

Hi, I had some problems with 1.5.0, the apache would fail to load after a while (did this several times). We use it a lot and it happed everytime, needing a re-installation.

Ive just managed to get the latest version (1.5.2) going on my puppy. THis is how I did it.

1) Download the 1.5.2- tar.gz package from Apachefriends, put it in, in this instance "my-applications"

2) right click in the my-applications directory and select "xterm-here" (or just press the " ` " key in the top left corner...nice trick that!!

3) type "tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.5.2.tar.gz"

4) the files will now uncompress (might take a while).

5). type "lampp start". Xampp will complain about there being a missing file in the "/root" directory. Were gonna make this file manually.

6) go to the root folder in ROXX, right click>new>blank file . Call it /root/.xamppdir" - dont forget the full stop between the / and the x !!!! (this makes the file hidden by default I think)

7) a new file will be created called .xamppdir, open it in a text editor of your choice and enter the path to your xampp installation, in this example it would be

"/root/my-applications/lampp"

Cool Save, go back to the terminal and type "lampp start" and you *should* be away!!!

Quick a hint, Ive found I can copy an entire puppy installation across a network using this!!!!

1) Just start xampp running and put a link from your /mnt/home/pup001 file into your /htdocs xampp directory (where the webfiles go).

2) find out your ip address (type "ifconfig" into a terminal window).

3) Boot a new pristine machine with puppy (from the cd using option 3 and not specifying a pup file).

4) Connect to the network and type the i.p. address of the machine with xampp installed on. A link to the puppy file should be there. click it and your new OS will start downloading. (I think its best not to use your computer while this is happening)

5) when it has competed, reboot the new computer. Puppy will complain about not being shut down properly (wow!!!) but will then boot into an exact copy of the other machine!!!!!!

there you have it, what other OS can you copy from one machine to another in ten munites with all data, apps, settings, etc?

Should be useful for backing up too.
