Has anyone managed to get networking going on an Intel Atom?

The Atom's networking doesn't work with Linux out of the box. The usual fix is to upgrade to the newest kernel. Can anyone tell me how to do that on a live usb key? Or can someone provide another solution?

Have been playing with the Intel "Little Falls" mini ITX Mobo - it is Atom based and I have had good results with Dingo 4.1A5 - check this thread for more info on the results/problems that I've had.
