Puppy's video on a laptop with Neomagic... any hope?

#1 Post by howard »

I was pleased to see that Puppy 1.0.6 has been enhanced with the addition of Abiword, which has renewed my interest in using Puppy on my IBM i-series Thinkpad. The problem: Puppy has so far not been supportive of the Neomagic [NeoEvil] video chip in the Thinkpad.

NEC laptop video problems

I think I have the same Neomagic video card in my NEC versa 6060. When you run "Start -> Setup -> Xvesa Video Wizard" (which is what ran the very first time you booted Puppy), you are offered a selection of video resolutions, and there is a "MORE" button with further choices but I can't see the different options. Does anyone have a list of the different modes or have a fix for the problem?

The XFree-Puppy from bladehunter is replaced with a X.org-Dotpup meanwhile.

There are addon-Dotpups with several tools for Screen-setup.
