rxvt background

#1 Post by everettattebury »

After playing with some other distro's, I got to wondering if rxvt could be semi-transparent. After a bit of reading and googling, I discovered that I could use a .xpm pixmap file as the background.

I added an entry to the icewm menu like this:

prog "Rxvt bg" mini-sh rxvt -sl 1024 -pixmap /root/rxvtbackground.xpm

Now I have another choice besides just black or white.

You could also use the aterm dotpup which also works in Fvwm - giving transparency and colours . . .

Cool tips - thanks

Some of my own:

-rv (changes background to black and foreground to bright white)

-fn 10x20 (makes a bigger window and font)

-sl 2000 will keep the last 2000 lines printed in rxvt, so you can scroll back to see them
