Grant has made available this improved 0.11
27 July version of PSIP
http://tmxxine.com/sip/psip-0.11.tar.gz

1. 'Reload Buddies' now says 'Refresh Buddies'
2. Help / Help (from menu) loads Jonathon's excellent HTML help
3. Icon's with text for clarity

We need more users online and if people require help
tell them to install PSIP and offer voice help

Puppy - SPEAK!

I have been busy laying a new floor (Got eaten by woodworm)
and learning Mandarin - Ni Hao

- so not been online as much as I would like
- 24 hrs per day is my preference - can we be plugged in directly yet?

hmm, not unless you would accept the conversion by removal of '232' into an 'arsconnection', [think about it!] though I believe they been piling [uh] up on the shelves -ooh, and you'd better watch out, that talk of ninepins doesn't get the bowling fraternity looking for a strike or two

just teasing, Lobster, to see if the woodworm affected the grey matter

I thought better of doing a gag response to the 'Ni Hao', so 'Wo hun hao'

good work, guys!

Heard from CEL:
I haven't been able to do any coding work lately. Too busy with other stuff.. ahh..

Anyway, I think the work that other people have done on this project is really great. I'll let you know if/when I do something productive.
Thanks CEL :)

HairyWill is having a break
The code is available for improvements - do let us know if you fancy having a go . . .

Grant do you fancy doing any 'cosmetic' improvements -
help links to main Puppy site for the next release etc?
0.12
As you have done some good work on this already . . .

Grant has been working on a new 'Line' option (pull down menu)
Can you release a new version yet Grant?

All documentation now here please
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/applicat ... -pets/psip

HairyWill could be back into coding soon . . .
. . . just in time to think about video support

I have not had time to use PSIP lately - too much time consuming
fun . . .

Also expect Barry to arrive any day soon with a working mic
- phoning from his 'Classmate' whilst riding his new bike . . . 8)

Latest version from Grant
http://www.tmxxine.com/sip/psip-0.12.pet

Good one ;)
The important change is the 'Line' options from the pull down menu

Have you removed the buddies list?
We don't yet have a privacy issue - no one has complained . . .
I now have to put this in? :?
Can somebody send me a list . . .

Also the help menu should go to the main community website
not tmxxine anymore . . .

Lob, If you have psip-0.11.pet rename it to psip-0.11.tar.gz.

You can then simply extract the default list out of it. If not I can send you mine.

Despite holding down even more jobs . . .
HairyWill is heroically working on a new version of PSIP
using even more advanced (or even Basic) code . . .

Now then . . .
we need to know which version is working in 4.1 beta retro and standard

Please report on the version number and the release date

I have tried the version used by default in 4.1 Beta retro
and gone back to 17 July version 0.10

With both of these the buddies list is not even appearing
- eh - which means I have to add it - it's all coming back to me

OK I set that version up OK (17 July version 0.10) and was able to send out a load of voice messages to everyone on the above buddies list
except
gazb689@proxy01.sipphone.com
who I have had problems talking with on line - so some problem with your set up maybe?

Let us start using and testing this great app
If you are in 4.1 Beta
here is how to set PSIP up

After restarting Puppy and nothing runing blinky was on?
Is this something to do with PSIP?
It can not be hanging about in memory as the computer was turned off for an hour . . .

I have a feeling it may be some bit torrent that I thought I had canceled . . .?

Ok...using the new 4.1rc and psip 0.12 August 8 2008 version with call quality set to 10 and max calls set to 4 works for me..hooray!! I don't see anyone online however but maybe none are online..dunno.

I called Grant and got him on his cell phone..ooops...I wondered why the rings sounded like the British double ring...lol

Overall my setup works well and vm messages are getting forwarded to email..hooray again.

I have posted a few vm messages to Lobster,Grant, Will and myself for testing so if you don't gt them let me know

Best,
Eric

I have now a telephone facility via internet with my provider.
This is done through my rooter/adsl modem which has voip support.
Could I use that SIP domain and userid with this program?

Hi Lobster,

This below is what I'm using along with speex...some people can't use speex so maybe look there. Also at one time I had to delete ALL psip files including the tmp/psip directory to start anew...this worked.

Also remember to leave one line empty at the bottom of the cfg file.

My partial settings are as follows

#
# Network settings:
#
--local-port 5060
#I think ice is important for maintaining routing information for those with dynamic internet ip addresses
#--use-ice
#I think this might only work if you have a gizmo account
#--stun-srv=stun01.sipphone.com

#
# Media settings:
#
# using default --clock-rate 12000
--quality 10
# using default --ec-tail 200
# using default --ilbc-mode 20
--rtp-port 4000

#
# User agent:
#
--max-calls 4

Best,
Eric

Beem, that would be a Yes.

gazb uses this type of setup all the time.

Gaz if you see this maybe you can explain your setup to beem.

There is some info here
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... &start=120

You have to add county codes etc..the help section at gizmo5 would help.

Gazb
I am very new to this stuff.
I did come that far that the whitebook did found my provider *8260 voip.belgacom.be, but as there is a red sign with a little cross, I understand Belgacom is refusing incoming calls.
I don't know if it is the same for outgoing calls.

To have the gizmo help you talked about, do I have to install another program then psip?
