The kdrive X server does display the GUI fine, but it seems to have a bug:

When I logout of any window manager, I do not get a black screen with a readable prompt; instead I get a 640x480 garbled multicolor block (green, blue, purple, white and black) that looks as if it is trying to display text, but it is totally unreadable.

- I can still enter commands (blindly) and they do work, but it is very annoying, and flaws an otherwise perfect Puppy on these laptops.

This true in at least Puppy 1.05 and 1.06, and may have been true in 1.04 as well but I cannot recall - I'll dig out my old 1.04 CD later and test it and update this post.

BTW, good idea to have this new section of the forum!

Regards,

kcin

ps.
I should also mention that I have not been able to get Xorg 6.82 working on this machine either.
