Realtime in puppy linux

#1 Post by thanghps »

I have a problem. I want puppy support realtime with patches of RTAI. But RTAI only has patches for kernel version: < 2.6.17 and other version. No patches for kernel of puppy. Do you have any way help me. Thanks.

first off ... you can't just patch the kernel already in puppy...

you would have to build a new one from scratch... and I belive there are RTAI patches for later kernels (at the very least there is HARD PREMPT that you can enable... and the low latency timers... at 1000hz)

if you want to get started with trying out compiling kernels i recommend you install a minimal debian lenny system

and follow the directions here(assuming you are fairly decent with the CLI): http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?p=110275

there is also a comprehensive set of videos on youtube about this :-) here: http://www.youtube.com/user/igneousphantom

EDIT: there is clearly support for RTAI in later kernels https://www.rtai.org/ read up
Taking Puppy Linux to the limit of perfection. meanwhile try "puppy pfix=duct_tape" kernel parem eater.
