Puppy Hold Music

#1 Post by wagado »

I'm looking for some suggestions for using puppy for hold music. I have an older PC with Puppy installed. I downloaded mplayer and pschedule. What I've tried so far is www.shoutcast.com with mplayer and it works well. The only problem is I would like to set it and forget it, but the stream sometimes stops for some reason after a few days. So I tried to use pschedule to initiate the "mplayer http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=4539" command at 8:00AM every morning. This worked well, but after a few days I had too many mplayer processes running and it slowed down my internet connection.

Could anybody suggest a script that would kill the current mplayer process and reinitiate a new one. This would allow me to pschedule the script every 8:00am without having multiple simultaneous mplayers running.

Thanks

Thanks,

That worked well.

My only problem now is that when I put the script in pschedule and select that it run every morning at 7:50, then click on the run button in pschedule xwin locks up.

Is it necessary to click the run button in pschedule for the cron to function?
